Hi-Fi News was launched in June 1956, and the statement of policy in first issue was that: “In Hi-Fi News, we shall endeavour earnestly to represent the high standards that are essential for high fidelity sound reproduction. We offer Hi-Fi News to the manufacturer as a medium through which his goods can be displayed and discussed, and we present it to our readers as a paper they can trust and rely upon.”  The magazine offers in-depth reviews of all audio equipment, entry-level to super-fi high-end, with authoritative technical features, new product and technology news, product lab testing and group tests, readers’ system features, on-location manufacturer features, opinion columns from industry experts, show reports and music reviews (jazz, classical, rock/pop and audiophile).

“HiFi-News is delighted to participate in Europe’s most prestigioius Awards programme.”

Of late, I have been banging on, to the dismay of many, about how high-end audio has priced itself beyond any regard for reality. That said, context […]
  • Naim Audio ND 555/555PS DR Network-Attached DAC 11th June 2019
The new flagship player network player from Naim ups the ante – not to mention the price – from the company's previous range. Is the performance elevated, too? The ND 555, sitting at the top of Naim's latest three-strong network player/streamer/call-it-what-you-will range at £12,999, isn't a direct replacement for the 'old' NDS. Yes, that player […]
